Tile budgets run higher in Chesterfield than in most of the St. Louis area, and the rooms are built to justify it. Two-story entries with a curved staircase, primary baths the size of a bedroom, hearth rooms next to a stone fireplace, and mudrooms that absorb everything the driveway throws at them. Tile is the one material that shrugs off all of that and still reads as the most expensive surface in the house.

It is also the practical answer for the wet rooms.
